The discovery of Cytokeratin positive cells in the bone marrow of ostensibly localised breast cancer patients

A recent publication from Germany endorses previous work from the UK that the discovery of cancer cells (even at very low levels) in the bone marrows of patients presenting with localised breast cancer is an adverse predictor for the future of that patient as it predicts with relapse. This is of no real surprise but it is now another test that will prognosticate for the future risk of relapse in a particular patient.
